No security shortcuts

In environments where flammable gases, vapours or combustible dust are present in the air (from paint shops and pumps to silos and various EX rooms), completely different rules apply. Standard electrical installations are not sufficient here. Even static electricity, an inappropriate switch or an overheated lamp can trigger a devastating explosion.

At Volting, we carry out highly specialized inspections and measurements of installations in explosion-proof areas. Our experts carefully check that your protective equipment is installed correctly and that your system excludes the possibility of ignition 100%.

What exactly does an Ex check require?

Suitability of ATEX equipment

We check whether the built-in elements (electric motors, sensors, lamps) are actually certified and suitable for the specific danger zone in your plant.

Grounding and Potential Bonding Measurements

The most common "silent" cause of explosions is static electricity. We carefully check that all machines, pipes and metal parts are impeccably grounded so that the static charge is safely discharged.

Test of spark circuits

We check installations that are designed in such a way that, even in the event of a short circuit or fault, they cannot release enough energy to ignite an explosive air mixture.

Visual inspection of tightness and mechanical damage

Searching for damaged housings, cracks, missing screws, and worn cable glands through which hazardous gas or dust could enter electrical equipment.

When are Ex measurements necessary and legally mandatory?

The legislation (Explosion Protection Rulebook) is extremely strict in this area and does not allow deviations. Measurements are mandatory:

1. First measurements (before start-up)

Immediately after the construction or processing of the technological process – obligatory before a hazardous substance (gas, liquid, dust) is even released into the room.

2. Strict periodic measurements

Regular inspections at specific, often very short intervals, which are strictly defined in your Explosion Hazard Study.

3. After each procedure or malfunction

Engine replacement, lamp replacement or any refinement of the installation in the Ex Zone immediately requires re-checking and confirmation of safety.

In explosion-prone premises, impeccable documentation is not just a formality – it is your only protection and proof of the legality of operation.
