Security

Invisible but crucial security of your facility

Electricity is invisible, but its power is enormous. We rely on it every day, but we often forget that electrical cables, connectors and switches also age or get damaged over time. Since we can't see wiring defects with the naked eye or smell them before it's too late, accurate measurements are the only way to make sure your system is completely safe.

At Volting, we don't just look for faults – we look for solutions to keep your home or business safe from fires and the risk of electric shock.

What exactly do we check in measurements?

Checking the insulation of cables

Over time, the protective sheath around the wires can be damaged (due to moisture, rodents or overheating). Measurements are used to check whether the insulation is still flawless and thus prevent the risk of short circuit or fire.

Testing of protective switches (FID switches)

These are switches in the cabinet that have to "throw out" in a split second if a fault occurs. We check that they are fast enough to actually protect you and your devices from electric shock.

Grounding measurements

A good grounding is like a lightning rod for your appliances. We make sure that the wiring is properly connected to the ground, which prevents the voltage from passing to the housing and shaking you if the appliance (e.g. washing machine) fails. Inspection of joints and contacts: Poor contacts like to overheat. With a thorough inspection, we make sure that all joints are strong and safe for long-term use.

When are measurements necessary and legally required?

Electrical wiring requires regular inspections, just like your car. We distinguish between three main types of measurements:

1. First measurements (new construction and renovation)

Before you turn on the light and connect the appliances for the first time in a new house or after a comprehensive renovation, the system must be checked. The first measurements are also mandatory in order to obtain a usable permit and connect to the public network.

2. Periodic measurements (periodic inspections)

The legislation requires that installations be checked regularly. For residential buildings, this is usually recommended or required for 10 years, but for commercial, industrial or public buildings, these deadlines are significantly shorter (often 1, 2 or 5 years, depending on the purpose of the space).

3. Extraordinary measurements

We recommend them after any major intervention in the installation, after a lightning strike near the building, flooding, fire, or if you simply suspect that something is wrong with your electricity (e.g. frequent switching off of fuses).

More than just a "piece of paper"

After each successful inspection, Volting will issue you with an official record of measurements.

This document is not just a bureaucratic fad; it is your official proof that the facility is safe. You will need the record to:

  • Inspections (on business premises).
  • Making or making claims with insurance companies (if a fire occurs due to wiring without valid measurements, the insurance company may not cover the damage).
  • Obtaining utility permits.

Don’t leave safety to chance. With our team and modern measuring technology, we make sure that your electricity works for you – safely, hidden and flawlessly.
